Colored Deviled Eggs
Everyone loves coloring and decorating eggs at Easter, but what about making dyed deviled eggs as an Easter appetizer! These fun Easter eats are so easy to make and are sure to brighten up your Easter table. Feel free to use your own tried and true, favorite deviled egg recipe and just dye your cooked egg white halves before filling them up. Don’t have a go-to recipe? Then give our classic deviled eggs recipe below a try or spice things up with one of these fun and unique variations.
Ingredients
- 12 hard-boiled eggs
- 6 tbsp mayonnaise
- 2 tsp yellow mustard
- ¼ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp pepper
- food coloring
Instructions
- Hard boil your eggs using a hard boiled egg cooker or this tried and true method. Once your eggs are cooked, transfer to an ice bath to stop the cooking and allow to cool before peeling. Tip: using older eggs when you hard boil makes for easier peeling eggs.
- Cut your eggs in half lengthwise and spoon the yolks into a bowl. Add mayonnaise, mustard, salt and pepper and mash until combined and smooth.
- To color the egg whites, fill several glasses with 1 cup of water and add 4 drops of food coloring to each cup and stir. Add 1 or 2 egg white halves to each glass and allow to soak until you reach your desired saturation. (About 6 minutes for muted pastels, longer for colder hues.)
Stuffed Carrot Crescent Rolls
Transform a boring, ordinary egg salad sandwich into a cute little carrot with some crescent dough and tin foil. Use your favorite egg salad for the stuffing or try one of these delicious recipes. Simply bake your crescent rolls in carrot shapes, fill with your egg salad and top with a sprig of parsley and you’ve got a delicious and Easter bunny approved snack. You could even make mini versions of these to serve as appetizers before your main meal.
Ingredients
- tin foil
- 8oz can crescent roll dough
- 6 hard-boiled eggs, peeled and chopped
- 3 tbsp mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp minced radish
- 1 tbsp minced dill
- ½ tsp salt
- fresh parsley sprigs
Instructions
- To make carrot shaped crescent rolls, roll sheets of tin foil into cone shaped molds tapering from one end to the other. Unroll crescent dough and use your fingers to press together the seams, then use a pizza cutter to cut 1-inch strips lengthwise.
- Wrap each crescent dough strip around the tin foil molds and place onto a parchment lined baking sheet. Bake at 400°F for 7-9 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to cool completely before removing from foil molds.
- To make egg salad filling, combine eggs, mayonnaise, radish, dill, and salt. Mix and stir gently with a spoon until well combined, being sure not to smash the chopped eggs too much.
- Assemble your stuffed carrot by carefully spooning the egg salad into the cavity of each croissant carrot. Finish it off with a fresh sprig of parsley at the end of each carrot.

Meringue Nests
This list of fun Easter eats wouldn’t be complete without at least one dessert recipe! These delicate meringue nests are super cute for Easter and can double as a table centerpiece during the main meal. These may be a little more involved than some of the other recipes, but we promise you they are so worth it. We filled ours with some mini chocolate eggs, but you could fill them with any type of candy or treat you’d like!
Ingredients
- 5 egg whites
- ½ tsp cream of tartar
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- cocoa powder, for dusting
- mini chocolate egg candies
Instructions
- Create a template for your nests on parchment paper by tracing 1.5-inch circles with a pencil.
- Add egg whites to a bowl a whisk with a hand mixer or in a stand mixer until the egg whites start to foam.
- Add in cream of tartar and continue to beat until soft peaks form, them increase to a medium-high speed. Add 1 tbsp of sugar at a time, beating until sugar is fully dissolved and stiff peaks form. Mix in vanilla.
- Once the meringue holds it’s shape, carefully transfer to pastry bag. Carefully pipe the meringue onto the parchment paper template to fill in the entire circle, then add 2 more layers along the outer ridge to create the nest shape.
- Bake at 225°F for 45 minutes, then turn off oven and allow to cool down inside the oven for 1 hour. Remove after 1 hour and allow to cool completely.
- To assemble, dust each nest with cocoa powder and fill with mini egg candies.
